Tips for being more sustainable while renting

There are many simple yet easily missed,  things you can do to make your rental housing more sustainable without consent from your landlord. Here are just a few tips

Install a thermostat

Installing a thermostat is the best wat to achieve energy efficiency in a home that you don’t own.

Not only can you save on your energy bills, but you can avoid wasting energy by being able to regulate the temperature of your home with ease.

Change your lightbulbs

Changing your lightbulbs to more eco-friendly ones means that you will be able to again save money on your energy bills, but more importantly, less energy (created by coal-burning) is used, thus saving you money as well as saving the environment.

Take more care of your appliances

By simply cleaning your appliances, such as your fridge, you can become a more energy-efficient tenant.

Appliances need to be taken care of, when the start to be come run down due to lack of care, they become less energy efficient. It doesn’t take a lot to be careful, yet it saves a lot of money and energy.

Watch your water usage

The most obvious, yet overlooked way to save energy is definitely watching water usage.

How to make moving house more environmentally friendly

Environmentally Friendly International Removals Packaging

The world is jumping on the environmentally friendly bandwagon, which is great news for the earth.

People are using paper bags or cotton shopping bags for shopping to cut down on the plastic bags being used.

Manufacturers are using recyclable packaging and even more vehicle manufacturers are developing vehicles with a lighter carbon footprint than before.

So if we are doing so much to be ‘greener’ and we want to save the environment for generations to come, why are we still wasting so much when we do mundane tasks such as moving house? Should we be looking at environmentally friendly international removals packaging?

On any given day, about 16% of the world’s population is moving and almost all of those households use cardboard boxes to pack up their possessions for the move.

We are all for paperless technology to save trees, but why are we still using hundreds of cardboard boxes to use once or twice and simply throw away?

It is because of this that there are now various new environmentally-friendly international removals packaging.

The concept is simple yet effective and will cost you and the environment much less than it would if you were using cardboard boxes for your move.

The environmentally friendly international removal packaging is commonly referred to as ‘green boxes’ or even ‘frog boxes’ and are durable plastic containers which substitute for regular cardboard boxes. They are waterproof, clean and can be stacked to make packing a breeze. You have nothing to lose by switching to green boxes. (more…)

We all need a good and healthy environment to live and to see the next generation of humanity come to pass. At the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, Agenda 21 was the most prevalent item of discussion and it has since resulted in the signing of quite a number of international treaties and conventions all aimed at promoting sustainable development. Sustainable development is a topic that has remained controversial for as long as it has been in existence and it has led to the signing of some of the most controversial treaties at the international stage to promote development that enables the current generation to meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs.
